Tutorial: How to Adjust Size

Before:
Okeeday! So this is a cute dress that is a small, but I am an XS, but guess what? I can make it smaller!
How do I do that you ask? Allow me to explain.

Step 1:
Turn dress inside out.

Step 2:
Find a shirt that fits you well and place shirt on top of dress.

Step 3:
Pin shirt to dress.

Step 4:
Cut dress to match shirt but make sure to leave a 1/4 inch because when you sew it back together and turn it right-side out, it takes up about 1/4 inch.

Step 5:
Sew the cut dress together, and then turn it right-side out.

Step 6:
Try it on and see how it fits! Fits well? Great! You're done!

After:
Tada!
You may think this is only slight difference, but it fits better, and looks better.

From Scratch/Knitting: 1 and 2

Knitting #1:
Yes, I also knit! The top, colorful one is a simple garter stitch with a yarn that alternates colors. I was actually making a tote bag, so I was only using two needles. I did it by knitting a rectangle and stitching the sides together, so it made like a tube. Then I gathered the top of the tube together. Last but not least I made a pompom at the top, attached it to the hat, and boom! Knit hat. <--(I will do a post on how to make a pompom!)

Knitting #2:
Ok so this one is a bit more detailed then the first. I used size 9 needles and cast-on about 75. Next, I knit/purled 2 : 2 in the same row, for a few rows to make an stretchy rim. Then I switched to size 8 needles and I knit and purled for a few rows, and then purled and knit for the next few rows to make like 3D stripes. Then after a few stripes I started decreasing in my stitches to make a dome shape. I then added a little pompom, aaaaand that's it!

Modify DIY/From Scratch: Sequin Hat - White Hat

Before/After #4:
Ok so a bit of a long story for this hat. Remember that jacket two posts down? So this hat, comes from that extra foot of fabric at the bottom that I cut away. Story time! So I was at a party and they were handing out this sequined, cheap, blue hats. I liked the shape of it, but of course I would never wear it seriously. So, I took two hats. I took one hat apart by using a seam-ripper to take apart the seams. After I took apart all the pieces, I had a pattern! Yay! Next, I cut the pattern pieces out of the extra fabric from the jacket. I used the second hat to see how all the pieces fit back together, while I used a sewing machine/hand sewed the pieces together. I also used the cardboard for the rim from the first sequined hat, as well as the little button thing.

After Inside:
So another thing I took from the original sequin hat was the lining that hides all the ugly seams.
The last touch was to add a circle of elastic band to keep it on my head. You can't see it because I sewed some fabric over it to hide it, but believe me, it's there!

Before/After:
Before = Ugly
After = B-E-A-utiful!

It's a Match!
Remember the jacket? Here's the match! :D

From Scratch: Denim Bag

Denim Bag:
So I had some scraps from a few pair of old jeans and I was bored so I thought, why not?
The leather (brown) is from a little belt that that I just cut up for decoration. Then I felt something was missing, so I made a big jean bow! Also the little string thingy was from the belt so I added that for a bit more detail too.

Right Image:
On the inside there is a pocket that has
a little snap button to keep it closed,
and you can also see the magnet button that
I attached to keep the bag itself closed.
(Sorry image is sideways)

Modifiy DIY: Adjusted White Coat

After:
Ok, so once again I don't have a before for this one, but basically, I am an XS, and this jacket was a Medium. Not only that, but it was also like a foot longer. I shrunk this down by turning the jacket inside out, and then I put a shirt that fits me tightly on top of it, and then I sewed the jacket to match the size of the shirt, and cut off the excess fabric. As for the bottom, I just cut it to a nice length and saved the foot of fabric. Yay! (The extra fabric will come in handy for the next post.)

Modify DIY: Lace Sweater

After:
So I don't have a before for this, but basically it was just like the front.
I wanted to make things a little bit more interesting, so I added some light pink lace.

Closeup:
Here is the close up of the light pink lace. Ok, so I know what you're thinking. Does this girl just add lace to things? The answer is no! It just so happens that I decided to post these one after another.
However, you will see later on that I do other, even cooler shtuff!

Modify DIY: Lace Blouse

Before:
So this is a shirt that I've had for a while but never really worn.
I've also had some blue lace that I haven't used yet, so I thought, "Hey! Why not?"
You may not be able to see it, but the shirt has a little pocket on it.

After:
Tada! I sewed the blue lace onto the pocket and on that little section on the top back.
I also cut the the poofy little sleeves off. :)

Closeup:
Here's a little close up of the back.
Cute, no?
